Located in Rockville, MD, Metalwerks® provided 28,000 SF of perforated aluminum screen wall system for the exterior façade of a new parking garage consisting of 6 levels and 1100 parking spaces. It was planned and designed to support the surrounding medical office buildings and laboratories.

Architect of Record, Gaudreau, Inc, and the design architect, LPA, Inc, worked to develop a structure that utilized an exposed extruded aluminum support frame system with perforated aluminum infill panels. Frames and panels were shop assembled into 6’ x 22’ units. In total, there are 246 units assembled for the exterior screenwall. Unitizing made it possible for the exterior façade contractor to compress the duration of the installation process.

The panels are .125” thick solid aluminum and perforated with a 2 ¾” diameter hole in a straight pattern. The perforation pattern was selected to allow for proper airflow in and out of the garage and also to hide the required panel stiffeners. These panel stiffeners were engineered to withstand the deflection of the oversize panels against the specified wind loads. Units are supported off the pre-cast panels using stainless steel attachment clips at each slab level.

Frames and panels were coated with a 2 coat PVDF AAMA 2605 liquid applied Blackhawk gray finish prior to assembling of the units. All of the parts were coated prior to assembling to ensure all exposed metal was coated for added protection against the elements.

Stained Maple veneer Solo Ceilencio panels with Type 8 grooving pattern and Knife Edge design returns, together with Claro Ceilencio above the reception desk add a striking ceiling highlight and reduce noise inside this office space. In the lobby area Claro Ceilencio is installed above the staircase and Solo panels add the warmth of wood by encasing the wall with a window to the office space inside.

Durable metal mesh exterior panels provide airflow, city views and protection from the elements as fans zoom to

their seats on new escalators. Signature etched Raven’s wings change the density of the stainless and create a public art asset and design continuity with similar presentations throughout the stadium. Made from recycled materials, mesh adds to the stadium’s record as the U.S.’s first outdoor sports facility to earn LEED Gold certification.

Located in Tyson Corner, Virginia, Haden Tower is a 14-story, 222 unit multi-family residential building that was constructed as part of a mixed use development. WoodN’s Modulatus and Versatilis profiles were used for multiple exterior applications, including cladding, rainscreens, soffits, and louvers.

Using both smooth and brushed finishes, the also design incorporated a variety of WoodN standard colors, including Lagorai, Cuba, Caffé Bogotà, Grigio Silverstone, and Grigio Londra. Completed in 2014, the project achieved LEED Silver Certification in 2016.

Decoustics offers a wide range of acoustical fabric products that provide superior noise absorption with customization possibilities, as well as a vast array of fabric colors, patterns and textures.

All fabrics are tested for durability and acoustical transparency to ensure required NRC levels and they also meet Class A Fire Rating.

For this project a standard 2’ x 2’ Tegular ceiling tile in a standard 15/16” suspension system was utilized throughout the bulk of the ceiling area to achieve the necessary sound control. The addition of the Decoustics fabric acoustical ceiling in the center maintains and compliments the sound absorption quality of the ceiling system while adding a boisterous and unique image to the quiet space.

A wide range of geometrical shapes, curved shapes, and also dome, cone and vault shapes are available.

With a maximum width of 48” (1.22m) and length of 120” (3.05m), custom sizes may be available depending on project scope and design criteria. Panels have a medium density fiberglass core. Thickness varies by panel type: ½” (13mm), ¾” (19mm), 1” (25mm), 1 ½” (38mm) and 2” (50mm).
